Bigger Fork Causess Weight Loss ,a new study

Researchers Tamara M. Masters, Himanshu Mishra and Arul Mishra from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City mentioned that in  a field study concerning weight loss they discovered that  individuals when use a bigger fork, they eat less amount of food. They will publish the study  in the Journal of Consumer Research
In their study,  they said that participants used different sizes of forks  to compare if the size of the fork has an effect on the amount of food individuals consumed.

They found that individuals who used a bigger fork took larger bites and finish eating less than individuals who used the smallerones. The researchers believe that consuming food in larger bites and clearing the plate faster, visually trigger the brain to send signals to the stomach that the individual is full than when an individual uses a smaller fork, more food is on the plate longer.
With follow up study, the researchers provided different sizes of food portions to see if the portions influence the amount of food eaten by participants. As a result, they found that when larger portions were given, individuals with larger forks ate less than others with smaller forks. The portion size of the food did not affect the amount of food consumed.and the whole effect was by the size of the fork only
